A wild waterfall that feeds the highest lake in Auvergne
Framed by the massif of the Banne d'Ordanche, the Aiguillier massif as well as by the Tuillière and Sanadoire rocks, Guery Lake is notably fed by the “Mortes du Guéry” stream which turns into a waterfall that can be easily discovered by taking the path laid out around the lake.
A natural site of raw beauty
Going to discover the Col du Guéry waterfall will also allow you to marvel at the beautiful panoramas of the lake which culminates at 1250 meters above sea level and which extends over 26 hectares. It is a body of water created by a basaltic lava flow and by glacial erosion.
How to get to the Col du Guéry waterfall?
The walk to reach the waterfall is quite easy. Allow about 20 minutes to get there. To do this, from the Col du Guéry car park, follow the blue path “The Guéry discovery trail – shortcut”. take it 3 kilometers long, it should take you about 1 hour 45 minutes. It crosses landscapes of green moors and tall forests. However, be careful when you arrive at the level of the waterfall, especially if you are accompanied by children, because its plumb is not protected.
The waterfall itself tumbles over a dozen meters and offers a magnificent spectacle.
