Located at 1244 meters above sea level, it is the highest lake in Auvergne. With an area of 25 hectares and a depth of 16 meters, Lake Guéry occupies a vast depression which marks the boundary between the Monts Dore and the Banne d'Ordanche.

The ENS of Lac de Guéry

Nestled in a vast basin deepened by glaciers and surrounded by mountain pastures, a basaltic lava flow blocking the "Mortes" stream coming from the plateau created the lake. Since 2021, the Department of Puy-de-Dôme has owned the lake.
