This lake, which has been set up for patrolled bathing throughout the summer, offers watersports enthusiasts, as well as those who enjoy just strolling around,
an amazing viewpoint over the village perched on a promontory of basalt columns.
Thanks to the efforts of the village of La Tour d’Auvergne, the lake was awarded Blue Flag status in 2009, 2013, 2014 and 2015. Every year, this status is used to recognise villages and yachting harbours which permanently implement a sustainable policy of research and application for improving the quality of the environment.

Labessette is bordered to the west by the reservoir lake of the Bort-les-Orgues dam on the Dordogne, to the north-west by its tributary the Rigaud and to the south-east by the Panouille, a tributary of the Dordogne.
