The Parc des Volcans d'Auvergne, created in 1977, is the largest volcanic complex in Europe. It is spread over two departments: Puy de Dôme and Cantal.

This immense territory is made up of remarkable landscapes, fauna and flora. The Regional Natural Park of the Volcanoes of Auvergne extends from 400 to 1886 m of altitude. With 400 hectares, it is the largest regional natural park in metropolitan France. It is made up of 000 municipalities which bring together around 150 inhabitants.

The Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park includes 5 natural regions: 1 granite plateau, Artense (800 m) and 4 volcanic massifs: Monts Dômes (Puy de Dôme 1465 m), Monts Dore (Puy de Sancy 1886 m), Cézallier (Signal du Luguet 1551 m), Mounts of Cantal (Plomb du Cantal 1855 m). It has 4 National Nature Reserves: the Chaudefour Valley Reserve, the Chastreix-Sancy Reserve, the Sagnes de la Gaodivelle Reserve, the Rocher de la Jacquette Reserve.

A unique place to learn about the volcanoes of Auvergne

Located in the heart of the Chaîne des Puys (UNESCO has listed it as a world heritage site), the Maison du Parc naturel régional des volcans d'Auvergne offers a vast reception and information area, a permanent illustrated and interactive exhibition on the Park and its natural and human heritage, temporary exhibitions, an ecological product shop, hiking guides and accessories, local products, a 100-seat conference room, discovery and hiking trails on human history and volcanic of the site.

Access

The house of the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Natural Park is located in Montlosier, between the chain of Puys classified by UNESCO et the Sancy massif.

Access to the Maison du Parc: from Orcival, take the D27 towards Nébouzat, then at the roundabout, first exit towards Clermont-Ferrand (D2089). Then D5 from a place called Randanne.
