La Grange Haute

The hike crosses the granite plateaus of the Dordogne and overlooks the Bort-les-Orgues dam. Beautiful views of the Monts Dore and the stratovolcano of Cantal. A refreshing and wild walk between streams and forests.
Topo / step by step

1/ From the departure sign located at place du 110/mars-1962, take the dead end road. In Le Montel with the large wooden cross, take the path on the right. At the fork, go left then follow the path to the right. At the intersection, continue straight and, at the fork, continue right until you reach a crossroads.

2/ Turn left onto a wide stone path. On the descent, at the exit of a bend on the right, turn left then, at the fork, take the path on the right. At the T-intersection at the bottom of the Varazenne forest descent, go left to the D 612.

3/ Go right. At the lake, take the path furthest to the right for a few meters and turn left onto the path that runs along the shore. At the beach (Bort-les-Orgues dam reservoir), go up the road. At the bend, turn right onto the path through the undergrowth. At the intersection, head right (the virgin of Labessette). At the T-intersection, turn left and continue up to the road.

4/ Take the path to the right of the D 612. Follow it for approximately 1 km, ignore the adjacent paths and return to the road. Go right, enter Labessette, cross the place called Le Montel and reach the starting point (Romanesque church, comb bell tower).

Description

Departure – From the departure sign located at Place du 19-Mars-1962, take the dead end road. In Le Montel with the large wooden cross, take the path on the right.
