Le sentier du Guéry (raccourci)

Lac de Guéry is the highest lake in Auvergne (1250 m). The surrounding mountains are wild and unspoiled: This area is made up of mountain pastures and offers family discovery of beech woods and waterfalls watering basaltic organs.

Description

Departure – From the barrier near the “Orcival, Guéry” cross-country ski center take the first path on the left and go down to Lake Guéry.

1 – Turn right and progress on the pontoon at the end of the lake (viewpoint of the lake and the Sancy). Continue the path along the lake until you reach a crossroads.

2 – Go up to the right, at the next crossroads turn left and climb the path through bends and undergrowth to the viewpoint over the waterfall. Continue climbing until you reach a metal barrier and emerge onto the moor. Proceed along the stream then the fir woods until you reach the stepladder providing access to a track.

3 – Follow this track on the right into the fir woods. Cross a main path and continue straight on until the edge of the woods, take a track on the right for 50 m then take a path on the left overlooking this track. Walk along the fence to a crow's foot (viewpoint over the Sancy massif and the lake). Go down to the right and at the crossroads of three paths, go straight on then at the next crossroads continue opposite to reach the start.
