Les Plantades

We climb onto a small plateau where we enjoy beautiful panoramas of the Sancy massif and the Dordogne valley. The Romanesque church of Avèze with its baroque altarpiece and polychrome wooden statues is worth a visit.
Tips and Suggestions

– View of the Beautourné cirque.
– View of the Dordogne valley and Sancy.

Topo / step by step

1/ From the departure sign, located near the town hall on the D987, follow the road towards Tauves until you reach the cemetery.

2/ Take the first path on the right. In the forest, continue, ignoring the side paths, then go down (very steep slope) to the footbridge. Cross it and climb into the undergrowth. At the intersection located at a meadow, turn right. At the fork, turn slightly left to reach Plantades. Cross the road and continue opposite on a wide path. At the intersection with the D1, take the road on the left (view of the Beautourné cirque) to Ardot. At the crossroads, go up the road to the right towards “Chez Prés”. At the intersection, take a path on the left (view of the Dordogne valley and the Sancy) and continue, ignoring the paths on the right, until Cheminade (another yellow PR).

3/ Cross the hamlet. After a left turn, continue until you reach a hangar (panoramic view) and take the path on the left. At the crossroads, take the road on the left, then, immediately on the right, the path in front of the cross (view of the Banne d'Ordanche and the Sancy massif). At the crossroads, continue straight on to the village of Flessanges, cross it and, at the bottom of the hamlet, continue on the path to the right (watering trough). Cross the road, take the path opposite that goes down to the stream and goes back up to the road. Cross it and follow a grassy path opposite. At the road, go left, then right at the crossroads (D987) to reach Avèze and the starting point (Romanesque church).
