Le tour du puy de Dôme

– Summit of Puy de Dôme, Le Traversin.
– Views of Petit Suchet and its caves
– The Puy du Pariou.

Work on the route will result in a diversion being put in place for approximately 3 weeks from February 26, 2024.

1/ Facing the departure sign, turn left onto the stone path. Proceed under a canopy of beech and hazel trees then through pastures which you cross until you reach a fork (view on the left of the Puy de Côme, the Grand Suchet and the Petit Suchet – caves).

2/ Stay right and continue under the hazelnut trees until the intersection with the GR.

3/ Go up to the right towards the Plateau du Traversin and go to the fountain (alt. 1 m).

4/ Continue straight ahead and walk alongside the sheep park. Go down a pozzolan track to go around the small puy de Dôme, cross a barrier and go to the crossroads a few meters further.

5/ Leave the left path and go down opposite to a crossroads of four paths.

6/ Turn right onto the path called “des Gouris” to reach the access road to the summit of Puy de Dôme. Cross it, go straight on until the D68 and continue opposite. Leave a path on the left, pass a crossroads of four paths and continue in the woods until the next intersection.

7/ Go right on a path in the woods and go up to the D68 to reach the Col de Ceyssat car parks, starting point.
